General

Staying in Stockholm can be expensive. Your options are to stay in a hotel, a hostel, B&B, renting a room or apartment or on one of the many Hotel/Hostel boats. Normmalm is the posh part of the city. Södermalm is where I work and is a bit more laid back and better to go out in. Gamla Stan is the old town and is the most picturesque and the most touristy. Östermalm is the commercial centre and Vasastan and Kungsholmen are more residential. However since Stockholm has such a good subway system nowhere is far from anywhere else.

Accommodation Links

Stockholm Visitors Board: The official site of the Stockholm Tourist Board is an excellent resource which includes an online reservation system for almost all 1 to 5 star hotels in the city.

Stockholm Guesthouse: Possibly the best value can be had renting a room or apartment. Sometimes there is a minimum stay length (e.g. 2 nights). This site will make a request to the owners and they will confirm with you. You will want to stay in the "City".

Destination Stockholm: This travel company has good accommodation packages and a good general Stockholm guide.

Den Röda Båten: Great value and centrally located between Södermalm and Gamla Stan. The nearby Rygerfjord is an equally good choice.
